Tuesday - 7th September
Packed up and headed off
down the coast, dropped into Pt. Gregory for a short look. Nice little
fishing village at between some red coloured salt lakes and the ocean.
Weather wasn't that suitable for staying in nice little villages so
continued south to Geraldton. Countryside on the way was beautiful, with
rolling hills of wheat and I think canola. We checked into the Belair CP.
Fairly ordinary park, very uneven site. Took the cruiser in for a 40,000
service and had a look round the town. Old gaol was good and the
development down at the marina looked interesting. Dock area is dominated
by massive silos.
Wednesday - 8th September
Weather very pleasant
today, we went down to Fisherman's Wharf to do some fishing, all we caught
were puffer fish, bugger. Went and did some shopping then did some fishing
off the beach opposite the park. Lots of nibbles and I landed a tiny
little silver fish, threw it back to grow up a bit for next time. Started
catching puffer fish again so gave it away and went back to the park to cook
up a big batch of curry.
Thursday - 9th September
Next stop Cervantes. Took
the scenic route, lots of little holiday shacks dotted along the coast,
would be great if the weather was nice. Checked in to the Cervantes CP, not
much of a site, but location excellent, right on the beach, pity the
weather was so miserable. Set up then headed on out to the Pinnacles, well
worth a visit. Then trundled off to Lake Thetis to check on the
Stromatolites, but the rain had filled the tiny lake to overflowing and they
were not evidence.
