Day 49 - Saturday 18th June 2005Drove from Vienna to Prague today, trip was relatively uneventful, except for occasional diversion through tiny back roads of a Czech village because of road works. As usual finding the hotel in Prague took us some considerable time, but eventually we settled in to the Marriott and then went off and found Cameron and Ninya. Met them in the Old Square and had a hugely overpriced somewhat crummy lunch. We then went off through narrow streets to the Charles Bridge. This was awash with a sea of tourists, lots of crafty things for sale. We walked across the bridge then along the river to the next bridge. We stopped for a rest at an island in the middle of the bridge. Interesting goings on, a small concert was in progress, men were playing marbles and two swordsmen were engaged in a lusty duel. We then headed back to the hotel. Lots of beautiful street scapes and distinctive buildings. We had dinner that night at an old art-deco restaurant, where the goulash wasn’t quite as good as in Budapest.
