Day 6 - Friday 6th May 2005

Today's outing was a trip down the Thames from Westminster Bridge to Greenwich, lots of very interesting sights along the way and the commentary from the boat crew was informative and often witty.  When we arrived at Greenwich, two tugboats were assisting the aircraft carrier, "Illustrious", moor to buoys in the centre of the river. It was a very impressive sight, with all the crew on parade around the flight deck and a Harrier jet on the takeoff ramp.  Security was fairly obvious with zodiac boats full of security personnel buzzing around.  We alighted at Greenwich and walked past the clipper "Cutty Sark" into town.  We wandered round the market, where amazingly, one stall holder was selling didgeridoos.  Lunch was very filling, bangers and mash and a pint in the Gypsy Moth pub.  We caught the boat for the return trip and watched a SeaHawk helicopter land on the Illustrious. Dinner was at Ninya's parents, Lennart and Ann's, place in Fulham.  Lovely meal accompanied by some excellent company and wine from Lennart's capacious cellar.  I have been given the plans of the cellar and hope to construct a copy under our family room.
